A LEGACY SINCE 1861
From a father's vision in 1861 to a global pharmaceutical legacy - the story of Leeming & Co.
1861
In 1861, Joseph Leeming expressed a clear and ambitious vision: that his son would one day establish one of the world's most respected and ethical pharmaceutical companies. This belief became the philosophical foundation of the Leeming family's work, shaping a legacy built on integrity, scientific curiosity, and a commitment to public well‑being.
1881
The company that fulfilled this vision was founded in 1881 as Thos. Leeming & Co., a New York City–based pharmaceutical importer and distributor. From the beginning, the firm specialised in bringing pharmaceutical specialties to the American and Canadian markets, quickly earning a reputation for reliability, innovation, and ethical practice. By the late nineteenth century, the company had become a trusted link between European manufacturers and the expanding North American medical sector.
LATE 1800s
Thos. Leeming & Co. formed several major partnerships that defined its growth. With Nestlé, the firm became the sole American and Canadian agents for Nestlé's Milk Food, a relationship that played a central role in the company's expansion. With the Bengué family, the company introduced and distributed Baume Bengué (now known as Bengay) to North America, later becoming its primary manufacturer and distributor. With the Pacquin family, known for Pacquin Hand Cream, the two companies eventually merged interests, with members of the Leeming family taking senior leadership roles across both organisations.

1881–1956
By the mid‑twentieth century, Thos. Leeming & Co. had become a recognised institution. In 1957, the Medallic Art Company minted a seventy‑fifth‑anniversary bronze medallion commemorating the firm's legacy from 1881 to 1956, symbolising its stature within the pharmaceutical world. The company continued to evolve throughout the twentieth century, maintaining its reputation for quality, ethical standards, and global partnerships.

2026
In 2026, the company was revived by Daryl Leeming Ross & Associates, restoring the family's historic commitment to ethical pharmaceuticals, natural medicine, and advanced bio‑active research. The modern relaunch honours the original mission while embracing cutting‑edge science, sustainability, and a renewed dedication to global well‑being.
THOMAS LEEMING
Thomas Leeming, founder of Leeming & Co., was also a distinguished figure in the arts - serving as Director of the New York Royal Academy of Music, reflecting the family's broad cultural and intellectual standing in nineteenth‑century society.
